Developing Connecticut's Youth
YDTRC offers a series of one-day workshops entitled "Developing Connecticut's Youth." These workshops for youth workers are designed to provide a solid introduction to youth development concepts. The concepts we discuss are the foundation of the Connecticut for Community Youth Development Project. These workshops, funded by the Connecticut Department of Mental Health and Addiction Services are free of charge to participants. The target audience includes youth workers, supervisors, agency directors, advocates, planners, program managers, local leaders, and others interested in youth ages 12 to 18. Resource materials and lunch are provided.
Workshop participants will:
- Learn the Youth Development Framework and ways to assess critical developmental youth outcomes;
- Learn strategies for involving youth as leaders in assessing, planning, and evaluating prevention programs;
- Learn about training opportunities for youth workers, supervisors, youth leaders, and community coalition members;
- Hear directly from young people about how opportunities and supports have affected their positive development; and
- Strengthen local and statewide networks of youth
agencies.
